At this time, more than half of our fixed route buses are equipped with bike racks. These include most of the newer buses in our fleet and are assigned to various routes in both Waterloo and Cedar Falls. Met plans to install bike racks on all fixed route buses by the end of the year. If you like, you can call Met Transit in advance to find out if there is a bike rack on a route that you are planning to take.
The buses that are equipped with a bike rack can hold two bikes. Bikes are not allowed inside buses unless the bike rack is full and the Operator determines that it is safe to bring the bike on board. Passengers must keep a tight hold on the bike if allowed on the bus.

You are responsible for loading and removing your own bike. As the bus is approaching, have your bike ready to load. Remove any loose items or valuables that could fall off.

2. If the rack is empty, squeeze the handle at the top of the rack and lower it.
3. Place your bike in the rack, fitting the wheels into the proper wheel slots.
4. Pull the support bar straight out and lift it toward the top of the bike tire. Let the support bar
hook rest on the top of the tire.

Getting off the bus
1. Important: Let the driver know that you have a bike to remove, especially when exiting through the rear door. Never step in front of the bus until you are sure the driver sees you.

3. Go to the nearest curbside. Never cross in front of the bus; passing traffic cannot see you!
